Pianist Ben Fleck spends his days working on music at home, a.k.a. "Canal Street Songworks" located in the artsy Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, and performs evenings above the crystalline waters of the mighty Puget Sound at the beautiful AQUA by El Gaucho Restaurant. Located at the foot of Broad street on Pier 70 the piano music starts at 6 pm Tuesday through Sunday evenings. Diners will hear some Broadway show tunes, jazz and blues riffs, adventurous movie cues, fun television themes, and some of Ben’s original compositions. Included in the repertoire are melodies from artists like Steely Dan, Burt Bacharach, Radiohead, Cole Porter, the Violent Femmes, Led Zeppelin, as well as Tony Bennett hits and Johnny Cash heart-breakers. Yes, even songs from "Phantom" to Queen's glorious “Bohemian Rhapsody” are all heard on the Pier.    Enjoy the piano music (which can be heard throughout the restaurant and out onto the spacious sun-deck) and revel in the fantastic vistas of Downtown Seattle, Elliot Bay, seagulls, ferry boats, Mount Rainier, drunken sailors tackily navigating their way home, all the while savoring the treasures of food, drink and laughter served up by a superb waitstaff that brings you the freshest, most contemporary creations of the highest quality. Some musicians lead somewhat complicated lives, so it’s not a bad idea to call ahead.    A graduate of Cornish College of the Arts, Ben has worked with many local artists, musicians and theaters, as well as performances on stage with Chuck Berry, Kenny G., and Bo Diddley.
